NATÀLIA SANS RESIDENCE

Selected Band

DAHLIA

Dahlia is a music group based between Menorca and Barcelona, formed by Joan Dabén Florit (vocals and guitar), Joanjo Serra Florit (guitar), Josep Peñalver Anglada (keyboards), Joan Rotger Julià (bass), and Guillem Pons Taltavull (drums).

Dahlia was formed between 2020 and 2021, but it was not until December 2022 that they introduced themselves publicly with the release of two self-produced singles and their live debut at the Teatre des Born in Ciutadella de Menorca. In 2023 they performed at the Claustre del Carme in Maó; they were finalists in the Pop-Rock competition in Palma and performed at the Monkey Week 2023 festival in Seville. That same year they released their first EP, titled Perquè sí i altres motius. In 2024, Dahlia opened the Cranc Illa de Menorca festival and made their debut in Barcelona at the well-known venue Razzmatazz. In 2025 they returned to the Teatre des Born and were selected for the first stages of the 2025 Sona9 competition.

Their second EP, titled Perquè no i altres excuses, was released in September 2025. The four songs that make it up engage in a compositional dialogue with their first work and draw inspiration from admired artists such as Grateful Dead, El Petit de Cal Eril, Frank Zappa, and Big Thief. This release is a commitment to creativity and stylistic freedom, expanding their thematic, stylistic, and compositional imagination, and standing out for its daring, intimate, and perceptive character.

Dahlia’s music moves across different musical styles such as alternative pop and progressive rock. Within this flexible stylistic framework, and blending the diverse influences of each member of the band, their musical proposal becomes bold and exploratory. Their music also stands out for its intimate, colloquial lyrics with a strong reflective tone that connect with the personal world in a distinctive way. This thematic heterogeneity, which reinforces their style, wanders between confusion, absurdity, nostalgia, and social critique.
