Selected Artist

CRISTINA REID

Cristina Reid’s multidisciplinary research-based practice deals with the collection, manipulation, fragmentation and distortion of media, images and information. Primarily working with video, installation and collage, She explores how media is disseminated and experienced though time. She is interested in the semiotics and power structures that influence how images function and the narratives and interconnections that occur when disparate images are brought into proximity. Her art history and archival background influences her practice as she often work from an archive of found and personal images to explore how decontextualising them highlights the weight and absurdity of how images and information infiltrate the collective consciousness.

Cristina Reid (New York, 1993) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Barcelona. She has a bachelor’s degree in Art History from Syracuse University and a diploma from Metàfora Studio Arts Program in Barcelona where she participated in group shows at FOC, Mutuo Centro de Arte, and Galería Joan Prats. Her video work has been exhibited during Loop Festival (Barcelona 2022), at Sala Equis (Madrid, 2023) and most recently, a solo exhibition at Espai Souvenir during Art Nou Emerging Art Festival (Barcelona 2024). She is currently pursuing an MFA in Artistic Production and Research at the University of Barcelona, and is a studio resident at Tangent Projects.
