STRIPART RESIDENCE

Selected artist

LAURA ARANDA LAVADO

Is a visual artist, photographer and anthropologist born in Granollers (1994). She has studies in Social and Cultural Anthropology (Universitat de Barcelona, 2020), Advertising Graphics (2016), Documentary Photography (Grisart, 2017) and a Postgrade in Photography, Creation and Reflection (Institut d’Estudis Fotogràfics de Catalunya, 2023).

She works at the intersection between anthropology and image, exploring photography from a critical gaze that interrogates its ontology, genealogy and its limits as a tool of power, memory and representation. She is interested in questioning the classic codes of representation through experimental techniques and autoethnographic processes.

She is the coordinator of Vigilia, a collective space for meeting, reading and creation that promotes links between artists, encourages creative practice and publishes a collaborative magazine. She has participated in artistic residencies at Espai d’Arts de Roca Umbert in Granollers or Cal Gras in Avinyó (Catalonia), spaces that have contributed to the development of her most recent projects.

In addition, she has exhibited at KBr Fundación Mapfre Barcelona Photo Center and her work has been seen in different festivals such as ArtPhoto BCN, Fineart Igualada, Festival La Nuu, Lumínic Festival and Festival Stripart, among others.

She is currently working on analog and experimental processes, as well as combining teaching, personal work and professional photography.
