Natxa Pomar <\/span>holds a degree in Audiovisual Communication from Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona, \u200b\u200bwith a year of exchange in Finland (Tampere University of Applied Sciences). She has a master’s degree in Photography and Sociology from Goldsmiths, University of London and pedagogical training.<\/span><\/p>\n

She has held the individual exhibitions \u201cLas Hermanitas\u201d (Es Baluard Museu d\u2019Art Modern i Contemporani de Palma, 2014), \u201cLes dones que s\u2019endinsaven dins el bosc\u201d (Galeria Fran Reus, PalmaPhoto, 2015), \u201cTerra Ignota\u201d (Casal Son Tugores, Alar\u00f3, 2013) and \u201cCorrespond\u00e8ncies\u201d (Can Prunera, S\u00f3ller, 2016). She has also directed the documentary \u201cAlg\u00e8ria: un viatge d\u2019anada i tornada\u201d, co-produced by IB3 TV and Cin\u00e9tica Produccions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Her work has been exhibited collectively at the Art Jove Mem\u00f2ria Hist\u00f2rica contest, with the project \u201cNo s\u00f3n com noltros\u201d (Casa Planas, 2023), \u201cEcce Mulier\u201d (Capella de La Miseric\u00f2rdia, 2016), \u201cTabula Rasa o la impossibilitat de construir una generaci\u00f3\u201d (MUU Galleria, MUU Kaapeli H\u00e8lsinki, i Es Baluard, 2015), \u201cDesaparici\u00f3. Absence as a pretext\u201d (Fran Reus, 2014), \u201cIdentitats: Espai, Lloc, Territori\u201d (ABA Art Contemporani, PalmaPhoto 2013), Foto8 Gallery (Londres, 2012) and at the Maison d’Europe et d’Orient (Paris, 2010), among others.<\/span><\/p>\n

She won the Archie Gittes grant from the Cercle de Belles Arts de Palma (2014), was a finalist in the Art Jove Mem\u00f2ria Hist\u00f2rica 2023, and received an honorable mention in the Ciutat de Manacor Award (2013) and in the Art Jove Arts Visuals (2013). In 2011, she got a scholarship by the 1st Encontro de Artistas Novos in Galicia, organized by Rafael Doctor, and selected by Pati de la Llotja at the \u201cFotografia emergent\u201d Festival in Lleida, Spain.<\/span><\/p>\n

She has participated in the \u201cLes Cl\u00edniques\u201d at Es Baluard Museu d\u2019Art Contemporani program and has taken photography courses at the Grisart school (Barcelona), as well as workshops with artists and curators such as Pierre Gonnord, Rafael Doctor and Alberto Garc\u00eda-Alix.<\/span><\/p>\n

My work revolves around artistic-sociological research through photography, video and the written word. My work reflects critically on identity, memory, power and politics, from a personal, feminist perspective, with a narrative and participatory dimension. The subjects I deal with are the traces of the past in the present through landscapes, topographies and installations. I am interested in the cyclical repetition of history (and stories), social, collective, individual and family memory, as well as the archeology of the place, the invisible, fables and lost paradises.<\/span><\/p>\n
