SIMONE, DIEGO IRIBE (1987, Bah\u00eda Blanca, Argentina)<\/span><\/strong><\/h5>\n

Simone is an Argentine musician and sound artist. Currently, he resides in the Balearic Islands, Spain. His work is composed by relating specific sounds that refer to Ibero-American culture with sounds of synthesis and electronic processes, bringing into play the sound landscape of the territory with global tensions.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

His approach pays attention to the forms of production of popular art and its aesthetic gestures, which occur by collective creation rather than individual. Hence the participation of local musicians in the development of their productions. \u201cEverything that is not tradition is plagiarism,\u201d said Igor Stravinsky in his \u201cMusical Poetics.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In 2023 he published “Un bolero per l’Archiduque”, a book edited by Casa Planas as a result of the research in collaboration with the Teatre Principal, where he develops a perspective on the use of folklore in the sound image of the Balearic Islands during the tourist explosion between the 50s and 70s.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Simone has trained as a guitarist and music teacher at the Faculty of Arts of the University of La Plata, Buenos Aires. He also trained in sound design with Santiago \u00c1vila and Cana San Mart\u00edn in the same study house. Currently, he produces music, sound art for plays, video art, installations and works with archives.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He has received a scholarship from the Institut d\u2019Estudis Bale\u00e0rics (IEB) and the Teatre Principal de Palma. He has published music for the Chilean label \u201cNew Latam Beats\u201d representing emerging Argentine producers. In addition, he has participated in the first creative residency for musicians from Mallorca held at the ACA Foundation and has shared his productions at FiraB!, and Fira de Manresa.<\/span><\/p>\n
